Let's Go Walkin' Mississippi Celebrates Five Years of Helping Mississippians Get Healthy!
Let's Go Walkin' Mississippi marked its five-year anniversary during a celebratory walking event in the Art Garden at the Mississippi Museum of Art in downtown Jackson on Monday, October 31. Governor Haley Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour were on hand to welcome children from Oakdale Elementary in Brandon and Pecan Park Elementary in Jackson. The students enjoyed a walk through the scenic Art Garden accompanied by Governor and Mrs. Barbour.
"For five years, Let's Go Walkin' Mississippi has had a real impact in children's lives by going into schools across the state and teaching the importance of exercise," Mrs. Barbour said. "I thank Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi for their support of this important program, and I appreciate the teachers and parents who have worked hard to get children involved and moving."
